💨Wind
🔥 Thermal: Maloja wind: sets in shortly before noon, builds fast, fades late afternoon (SRF Meteo). Usually from SW, strongest around 14:00.
FoilFlow checks the thermal conditions every day (sun strength, wind aloft, Föhn, Bise and the lake's own pressure rules) and shows when it is likely.
Forecasts from several weather models (e.g. ICON, AROME, HARMONIE) and live measuring stations nearby are in the app.
💡Good to know
- Wind: Maloja thermal from SW, usually from midday in summer; Julier wind from N is strong, gusty and offshore - experts only
- Water rarely above ~16 °C; lake at 1800 m - take a bigger wing
- Water rescue by the two schools 15 May - 15 Sep, otherwise at your own risk
