- ✗Kiting banned south of the line Schiltegg - Gruonbach (Flüelen end of the lake) and north of the Rütli line. The kite club also lists a December-January ban. ur.ch
- ✗Only launch site: delta north of the Isenthalerbach at Isleten; closed 15 June - 31 August (then water start 150 m out). ur.ch
- iKiters keep 150 m from shore and 200 m from passenger boats. ur.ch
💨Wind
🔥 Thermal: North thermal April-September from about 13 h, 3-5 Bft; a north / north-west weather setup adds 1-2 Bft; Föhn = strong gusty south wind instead. Usually from NNW, strongest around 14:00.
FoilFlow checks the thermal conditions every day (sun strength, wind aloft, Föhn, Bise and the lake's own pressure rules) and shows when it is likely.
Forecasts from several weather models (e.g. ICON, AROME, HARMONIE) and live measuring stations nearby are in the app.
💡Good to know
- Wind: thermal from N or S on fair days, strong Föhn from S
- Isleten: demanding launch, experienced riders only; Flüelen on the opposite shore also used
- Ferry landing ~100 m north of Isleten - keep clear
